How to make the most your online counseling session…

Access.

Insight uses Zoom for Healthcare, an easily accessible video platform that guarantees your privacy and aims to provide the best quality user experience. Your counselor will send you a meeting id before your appointment. Simply click on the link.

Log on.

It’s helpful to log on a few minutes before your appointment. This will give you time to adjust your video and audio and to make sure your appointment starts on time.

Audio.

Hearing what you have to say is extremely important to your counselor. If you are able to use headphones with a microphone, it can cut back on feedback and assure that your counselor can hear you.

Light.

Your counselor benefits from getting to see you clearly. If you are able to sit in front of a sunny window, or another light source in front of you, that is ideal. You can also turn the brightness up on your computer screen. Try to avoid being “back lit” by not having a strong light source behind you.

Internet quality.

If you are concerned about the quality of your internet, it may be helpful to ask other household members to avoid streaming video or gaming during your session.

Privacy.

Your counselor will be in a quiet, private, and confidential environment, just as if they were meeting with you in person. Try to find a quiet place where you won’t experience interruptions for your session. Silencing your phone can also be helpful.

Teens.

If your teen is working with a counselor online, please remind them not to multitask. They will get the most out of counseling by avoiding texting, checking their phones, playing games, etc.

Child care.

To make the most of your counseling session, you may benefit from having someone on hand to help meet your children’s needs while you meet with your counselor.

Flexibility.

We hope these tips help you make the most of your experience, but please remember that we are flexible and would love to serve you.
